The Boudoir Journey

I bet you're wondering, how is a photo session a journey? Well, you've stopped at the right blog because I'm going to share this with you.

As women, we are conditioned from a young age that society has expectations about who we are, what we should do, how we should act, and how we, as women, should look. Luckily, society has caught on and women are fighting back with their own ideals of womanhood. We have a huge community of women who long for the standards of the 50's and 60's to go away. We are seeking our own paths and creating an open future for our daughters.

The boudoir journey begins once one decides to break free from the ideals and information stuck in her head. It is a journey of self-love. Learning to love yourself where you are is not an easy task. Women of all walks of life have hang-ups and they mostly revolve around our bodies. Not fair.

Once you decide to take the first step and contact a boudoir photographer, you've begun that journey. After initial contact comes the "getting to know you" phase. By the way, we WANT to talk to you. It's more personal and face it, you'll be half naked in front of us. You just made a new friend who will be your ultimate hype person! You will usually get a session prep guide with styling and wardrobe advice. This is where it gets fun! You start taking better self-care of yourself in preparation for your session date.

The day of your session is a whirlwind of emotions. You are nervous, butterflies in your tummy, maybe a little scared? "What if I don't like my pictures? What if I make funny faces? What if I fall on my face?" This is all normal and is expected by your photographer.

Once you get your hair and make-up done you realize you are one hot babe! Your butterflies melt away and you are ready to pose all of those crazy poses and wear (or not wear) all of the beautiful things! You leave feeling like a million dollars. Mission accomplished!

But if you think you feel great now after your session. Hold onto your teacher glasses! You're going to be completely blown away by your images.
